7 Skin-Saving Products For Winter
It finally feels like winter. Almost everywhere (all over the US), all at once and very suddenly, it got really. Effing. Cold. At first, we were all like “Hurry up winter! Why is it still 80 degrees?!” And now, we’re all like “I’m never leaving the house again!” And our skin is like “Heeeelp meee!” So let’s talk moisturizers. My skin is not having it these days and has been completely parched. No matter the amount of water I drink, my skin (both my face and body) is in need of a little extra love. Here’s what I’m leaning on these days.
Savannah Bee Company Honey and Beeswax Body Balm
At first glance, I assumed this balm in its stick form, wouldn’t be very blendable. I imagined rubbing a glue stick all over myself, with product rolling instead of spreading. But it almost melts into skin. And with the rosemary and lavender, it’s the most soothing scent.
Savannah Bee Company Royal Jelly Body Butter
My favorite is applying this right after the shower. It’s decadently rich, is fast absorbing and locks in moisture all day.
Olive + M Face Oil
I’ve talked about this one over and over. These days I’m applying 2-3 pumps, daily. Sometimes even twice a day. It feels very nurturing on my skin, like I’m really protecting it from the dryness of the cold.
Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask
This is my go-to winter mask and one I’m always prepared with for those cold days I need a little something extra. When it’s cold, with the combination of the dry winter air and the heater, I wake to extra dry skin, but this mask helps maintain and absorb moisture overnight.
Aquaphor Healing Ointment
Good old-fashioned, drug-store Aquaphor is a necessity in my household. My husband suffers from eczema and depends on Aquaphor year-round to help manage it. I first tried Aquaphor thanks to him and love slathering the stuff on my hands, elbows, anywhere really, to retain moisture in my skin.
Shea Moisture’s Raw Shea Butter Baby Eczema Therapy Cream
Are you seeing a pattern in that the boys in my family suffer from skin conditions? My son, just months old, broke out in eczema – common in babies – and I tried this product on him to help manage. It was definitely helpful, and in the process, I discovered this rich, pomade-like butter that works wonders on my skin, too.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream
Light enough to use day or night, but a cream powerful enough to combat harsh weather. I discovered this one while living in New York, and if it can handle New York City winters, it can take on almost anything.
