Galentine’s Day Party Ideas
What is Galentine’s Day?
In the words of my idol, Leslie Knope:
“Oh it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”
In honor of ‘the best day of the year,’ I present to you the following Galentine’s Day Ideas:
Host your own brunch, complete with a mimosa bar and/or Bloody Mary bar. So many delicious juices and fruits can be paired with champagne for an elegant start to your day. And for the Bloody Marys, please don’t forget the bacon! Boozy bars not your thing? Try any one of these other bars for an equally fun and delicious alternative!
High Tea: Anyone care for a spot of tea?
Provide a variety of loose-leaf or bagged teas: black, green, white, and herbals teas come in so many yummy flavors and all are best steeped at different water temperatures. Really, it’s a thing. Complete the day with fancy cups and saucers, beautiful tea pots, French macaroons, mini cupcakes, and tea sandwiches. Don’t forget the raw sugar, cream, and local honey, and remember to raise that pinky!
Spa Night: Beauty is from within, but a facial never hurt anyone.
Manicures and pedicures and masks, oh my! BYO robe, or provide a cozy and luxurious one for each of your guests. Set up different stations for DIY nails, toes, lips, and facials. Find recipes for facials and scrubs or buy your favorite brands. Turn your home into a relaxing oasis and totally pamper yourselves!
Wine, Cheese, and Charcuterie Party: Because wine.
Pair cabs, pinos, and sauvignon blancs with different cheeses or meats for a fun evening of combining flavors and relaxing with friends. Do a little research to find out which wines are paired best with what foods, and provide everything in easy-to-bite portions. Keep the wine flowing and invite your guests to bring their favorite bottle to share!
Movie Night: Chick-flick it up!
Popcorn, pajamas, and milkshakes! Bring your popcorn to the next level by adding some extra toppings, like marshmallows, M&Ms, and pretzels for the perfect sweet/salty mix. Did you know that wine can be paired with popcorn? Well, now you do! Finish off your night with a boozy s’mores milkshake! Pick a favorite movie (or a new one!), throw on your most comfy PJs, and have an old-fashioned movie night with your girls!
Of course, any Galentine’s Day party you throw should be accompanied by any and all Beyoncé albums playing in the background (Destiny’s Child, included). And don’t forget the invites and props: think lots of sparkles and hot pink lip stick or bright red nail polish as party favors. Happy Galentine’s Day!
