Get Glowing Skin For Spring
Spring- the weather’s first smile of the year. Amid these last cold days of winter, we’ve gotten to see peeks of the upcoming sunshine. I, for one, cannot wait for spring. It’s officially time to crawl out from beneath that cashmere throw blanket and let the world see you shine with it!
From here on out, it’s spring in our books. Whether it’s a sunny day outside, or one of winter’s last shivery stragglers, you can embody the new season’s optimistic warmth any day by stepping up your beauty routine and getting your glow on.
First step, above all else? Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Skin is the largest organ on the human body, and if you’re dehydrated, your skin is going to reflect it from the inside out. No cover-up can hide dry skin! Most doctors and health professionals recommend drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water a day in order to keep your body healthily functioning, while some recommend drinking even more. Step up your hydration game this spring by keeping a cute, refillable water bottle by your side. Sip away throughout the day to get your skin looking its best… You’ll be glowing in no time!
Treat yourself, and your skin, to some quality time with a good face mask. Just like you hydrate yourself internally by drinking water, you want to moisturize your skin externally with a mask. Put on your favorite fluffy robe and kick back to watch some Netflix while you let your face be rejuvenated. Sheet masks have been all the rage in the beauty world over the past year or two, and this one is literally as good as gold.
Say goodbye to that winter complexion by warming up your makeup with the perfect bronzer. The key to bronzer application is to apply the product to places that the sun would naturally tan. Apply with a light hand to begin with, then build and blend your glow to the intensity of your preference. Brush lightly along the outer halo of your forehead, along your temples, and sweep near the apples of your cheeks. Blend downward with a few strokes towards your neck, giving it some soft color to match the rest of your beat. Voila! Sun-kissed, and simply gorgeous.

If you really want to look like you’re glowing from within, a killer highlight is the best way to catch the light. Research charts or images of what highlight is best for your face shape to find out what angles you want to really be capturing. A universally flattering rule of thumb is to highlight along the top of your cheekbones, moving up towards your temples. Dab on the product with a brush, beauty blender, or your finger along the desired highlight path in an upward motion. Being that it’s the opposite of bronzing or contouring, for highlighting you want to target certain extended planes of your face that reach out into the sun. Really make them pop! Other great spots to apply some of your highlighter are above the cupid’s bow of your lips and right beneath the arches of your eyebrows.
Staying fresh-faced throughout the day can seem like a difficult task. Between dealing with stale indoor air at the office, or your pores deciding to start their own oil company, you might not feel like you’re exactly “glowing” anymore. Looking dull? Ruddy? Greasy? Keep a bottle of a go-to face mist in your tote that will rehydrate and cool your face, while also absorbing any unwanted greasiness that may have accumulated throughout the day. Not only is it a great pick-me-up for your makeup, but a spritz of face mist mid-day also just feels amazing. An actual breath of fresh air.
