Let Us Brunch: May’s National Food Holidays

May's National Food Holidays | Lilliana Vazquez, The LV Guide

Is it just me or are you obsessed with national food holidays as well? I live for National Chocolate Day, National Dessert Day, and obviously National Ice Cream Day (okay truth be told I just like desserts mostly)! Well May is no exception. This month is National Strawberry Month which is perfect because strawberries are in season. Not only that, I also happened to notice that May is full of brunch friendly options!

Brunch is the best meal of the day if you ask me. It is no longer just a Sunday Funday occasion, brunch is made for any and every day. With so many national food holidays this month, you can see the full list here, it would be the perfect opportunity to have brunch. Round up your gal pals and let the brunching begin!

Your brunch date can be as extravagent or quaint as you want. Feel free to whip out a tablecloth and your fanciest dining ware for this special occasion, this creates the perfect instagram setup as well. For this brunch it would be fun to be a little more interactive, because strawberries are in season all of the local farmers markets will be selling them, try buying local or even finding a place that allows you pick your own! I always try to involve as many of my friends in the brunch process, try asking your besties to BYOD (Bring Your Own Dish), this way your not in the kitchen all morning.

May starts off strong with the first being National Chocolate Parfait Day, seriously this month is full of delicious options. Dishes that can be made in advance will be the easiest for your friends to bring. So days like National Quiche Lorraine Day, National Raspberry Popover Day, and National Chocolate Chip Day (chocolate chip pancakes anyone) will be perfect! May 11th is National “Eat What You Want” Day so the options are endless there.

Handleing the day of dishes such as, crepe suzettes for National Crepe Suzette Day and the cocktails for National Mint Julep Day (on the rocks or frozen) will be easy. I also suggest this recipe for strawberry grapefruit mimosas because it’s not a true brunch without mimosas! Now you just need to get creative and have fun!

Happy brunching!
