48 Hours In L.A.
We’re taking on the West Coast! Los Angeles is the more laid-back and cool younger sister of NYC. For those who have yet to visit, we’ve got the scoop on where to go and what to see. Here is your Los Angeles weekend guide.
Downtown may not be the first place that pops into your head when you think of a trip to LA, but it definitely has so much to offer. There are so many hidden gems to discover, you could really spend a few days here! From the Broad Museum to the Fashion District (and Pinata District!) to Little Tokyo, there’s a long list of places to visit.
Take the morning to explore The Broad Museum (Note: you may want to get there early, the lines get long!) Afterwards, take a walk through Little Tokyo. You will find cute little Mom and Pop gift stores, authentic restaurants, and unique thrift shops. Make sure to stop in Mikawaya, in Little Tokyo, for their Mochi ice cream. It’s seriously the best! For some sweet, vintage threads head over to Raggedy Threads. Looking for an upscale dinner spot? You need to go to Bottega Louie, their pizza is truly my favorite. Not to mention, the French macarons and other pastries are divine!
If you didn’t visit Hollywood, did you really even go to Los Angeles? The answer is no. As a tourist, you have to do the Walk of Fame! It’s really fun spotting all your favorite celebs’ and artists’ stars.
Since it does get pretty hot in LA, cool off with some gelato from Grom, made just like they do in Italy. If you’re okay with walking off the beaten path, off Highland Ave. you can find the most rad vintage store called Glitter Death. Funky clothes, funky vibes, and amazing prices! Also, take the time to find the Hollywood sign. You can actually drive up the mountains to see it up close and personal or if you don’t mind going on an adventure you can get a good view from some of the neighborhoods, as well as get to see all the cute cottages and villas on the hills.
Cue “Beverly Hills” by Weezer! Prepare to be star struck…no literally! You may actually bump into some A-listers making your way down Rodeo Drive. Take in the views of high-rise palm trees and the most beautiful homes driving your way through the winding roads of Beverly Hills.
One place I do recommend stopping at is Sugarfina, a luxury candy boutique. You’ll be amazed by all the different candy options! A sweet-tooth junkie’s dream. You have to try the birthday cake caramels!
